2013 Hyundai Elantra GT
The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT delivers European driving dynamics with the super fuel efficient 5 door hatchback that surely will grab the attention of Carlsbad drivers and make cruising the highway along the Pacific even more fun.
Hyundai’s signature chrome accented hexagon shaped grille flows into the hood, while the body-side graphic displays a chrome beltline molding that helps to keep up the sleek and stylish character lines. The stylish projection headlamps, fog lights and available 17-inch alloy wheels with chrome spears complete the modern exterior design. From the purposefully designed aggressive profile and low overall height, to the wind cutting side mirrors, gaps between tires and body are minimized while rocker panels are streamlined. All of these technologically advanced design changes, plus a sport-tuned suspension, bring about lower wind resistance, which equals better fuel economy and a smoother ride.
The Elantra GT is powered by an advanced 1.8-liter four cylinder engine and in-house six-speed automatic or manual transmission providing 148-horsepower at 6,500 rpm (ULEV), and also delivering Best-in-Class specific output at 82.2 horsepower per liter. Standard fuel economy is an estimated 37 mpg highway for the six-speed manual transmission and the six speed automatic while the manual version gets 26 mpg city, and the automatic transmission gets 27 mpg. Both transmissions provide 30 mpg combined that gives Elantra GT a highway-only driving range of more than 480 miles.
Elantra GT is equipped with a MacPherson strut front suspension, with coil springs and gas shock absorbers, the rear suspension is comprised of a light weight coupled torsion beam for enhanced steering stability and mono-tube shock absorbers. Elantra GT is sport tuned for added feel, responsiveness and control that appeals to the true driving enthusiast, while the Elantra sedan is configured more for comfort. Some of the modifications to the GT include higher rear spring rates, a stiffer twist beam and Sachs dampers for improved body motion control which adds to the stiffer and sportier ride.
Hyundai’s all-new and innovative Driver Selectable Steering Mode, with three operating modes to select from allows drivers to adapt Elantra GT steering characteristics to varying individual driving preferences and road conditions. The “Comfort” setting seems to be the best for general driving conditions and offers the greatest ease of steering; ideal for Downtown Carlsbad as well as the short drives in and around the coast. Sport is better suited for highway driving or for negotiating winding roads, while Normal is the default for a wide variety of driving situations.
The 2013 Hyundai Elantra GT is a sporty hatchback with dynamic European handling and style. Perfect for anything you have in mind, the Elantra GT is just waiting to take you as far down the rabbit hole as you want to go!
